JustGiving – Event Deep Linking tool

I’m regularly asked about the best way to promote charities specific events. If you are using the Online Giving platform, JustGiving, then this is what you need to know.

Welcome to the event linking tool

Our tool allows you to add a simple link to your website or emails to direct supporters to create a JustGiving fundraising page, where a charity and event have already been selected.

As well as this tool there is also the ability to have your digital agency benefit from Page Creation api’s which can be embedded directly into your website or event registration process. For More information on API’s please click here: http://apimanagement.justgiving.com/

JustGiving to launch direct debit facility – Civil Society

JustGiving will be launching a direct debit function to its website in the next one to two weeks following a significant rise on regular giving on the site. The sponsorship website currently allows regular gifts to be made via credit card, but will be introducing a new tool to enable donors to set up regular direct debit gifts, which JustGiving expects will attract a different kind of donor.

The development, due within the next few weeks, was announced at a Media Trust event in London on Wednesday, and follows a 30 per cent year-on-year rise in the current regular giving programme on JustGiving.

JustGiving launches corporate giving platform

JustGiving is poised to trial a new company team giving platform as part of a strategic push towards corporate giving for the website. More than 20 companies have already signed up to the soon-to-be launched platform, which will begin in trial stage with a few founding partners next month. The platform will enable company employees to fundraise on one platform, but for whichever and as many charities they choose.

What does the ICO say about cloud computing?

Extract from ICO newsletter in december….
Last month one of our e-newsletter readers asked whether the ICO had produced guidance on the issue of cloud computing. In response we have included the following guidance taken from our publication ‘Personal Information Online – Code of Practice’ which includes a section on cloud computing, and can be seen here.

From a data protection point of view it is important to remember that organisations using these services might not store the personal data they are responsible for on their own equipment. Therefore they often can’t be certain where the personal data is being processed and by whom. Clearly, this raises compliance issues that those using internet-based computing need to address.

Organisations using an internet-based service must not relinquish control of the personal data they have collected, or expose it to security risks that would not have arisen had the data remained in their possession in the UK. To overcome this problem a written contract should be in place.
It is also good practice to encrypt the data before it is transferred to the online services company. This should render the data useless to any hackers and snoopers without the key, regardless of the jurisdiction it is in or who is processing it.
